Locations

The locations that we have chosen for our film are typical conventions for the crime and action genre. We have chosen to use the busy shopping centers and streets act as a good place to hide for the main character. This is also good for the audience because it is realistic because these locations are used in everyday life. We have chosen to use the escalators in the shopping centers because we would also be able to use the "near miss" situations because as one person is about to use the lift, the agents could be close to catching them and could miss out because of the lift doors shutting, meaning the character would then be able to get away from them for a short amount of time. Another reason we have chosen these locations is because they are usually busy with a lot of people and this would then give the characters more places to hide when they are running. This builds up tension for the audience because they don't know what will happen or if the characters will be spotted. The lighting is usually high key, with a lot of natural lighting being used. The shopping center will be a good place to get this convention as they are well lit. However there is also some low key lighting used in the action and crime genres. We aim to include this in our film by filming in a dark alleyway at night which would again build suspense and tension for the audience because they won't know what to expect from the film. Multi Story car parks are also used in these genres because there are again many places to hide, which is good because it makes the audience think of what could happen next. These are also a good place to use for car chases or a secret location and where the agents can plan a chase on the individual.

The main location where our film is going to be set is Cambridge. We have chosen this location because it has all the locations that we need to film in. These include a busy shopping centre (The Grafton), busy public streets with plenty of spaces to hide, multi storey car parks, back alleys and main roads. With all of these together it is the perfect place for us to film.

  1. Make sure you take some photos whilst filming to post to your blog. This will demonstrate your explanations above.
